After an extended break of four years, Encore Melaka, the immersive theatre experience, is back and better than ever before. The grand reopening ceremony was graced by Encore Theatre co-founder Datuk Zoe Tan, chief architect Wang Ge, and esteemed Chinese director Wang Chaoge, who serves as the theatre’s chief director.

Attending the event was also Encore Melaka and Yong Tai CEO Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon, who acknowledged the challenges the theatre faced during the Covid-19 pandemic. In a heartfelt speech, Boo expressed his hope that the reopening of the theatre would bring forth a new era of tourism and economic growth for the city of Melaka.

The reimagined production of Encore Melaka maintains the essence of the original while introducing new sound effects to enhance the audiovisual experience for both new and returning audiences. State-of-the-art lighting and sound designs have been implemented, significantly elevating the dramatic impact of each scene.

Furthermore, the theatre now offers a seating capacity of 1,800 and boasts innovative features such as 360-degree rotating seats, a 240-meter-long stage, a water mist stage with over 1,000 water sprays, and six lifting platforms rising up to six meters. The incorporation of 3D stereoscopic light sculptures, on-site sound and lighting design, and seamless scene transitions creates a synergy between virtual reality and live performances, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of Melaka’s history.

The relaunch of Encore Melaka attracted a diverse range of attendees, including business partners, media members, and celebrities. Notable guests in attendance included Malaysian supermodel Ling Tan and renowned hairstylist Albert Nico, who were specially invited by Encore Theatre and The Pines Melaka.

Ling expressed her excitement, stating that she had been longing to visit Melaka for a long time and was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to witness the show. She also mentioned that upon returning to the United States, she would highly recommend Melaka and Encore Theatre to her American friends.

Albert Nico, who attended the show for the second time, praised the captivating storyline and mesmerizing “waterfall” effects. He also commended the hospitality of The Pines Melaka, led by the general manager Charles Liew.

To make Encore Melaka accessible to a wider audience, discounted tickets have been introduced for seniors, children, and Malaysian residents. For further information, visit the official website.
